Welcome to Writing From Live Art
Writing From Live Art was conceived to provide an opportunity for new writers, or writers who are new to Live Art, to engage with Live Art and performance work and to move towards seeing their writing in print. Writing From Live Art is specifically focused upon supporting writers to become established commentators on Live Art in the arts and mainstream press. The scheme encourages writing that is critical but accessible, and seeks to engage new audiences and readers through articles, reviews and debate.
Writing From Live Art ran from 2006 - 2008. The co-ordinator was producer Emmy Minton, the facilitator was artist and writer Joshua Sofaer and the editor of www.writingfromliveart was Rachel Lois Clapham. The individual Writing From Live Art writers were Tim Atack, Rachel Lois Clapham, Dany Louise, Rebecca May Marston, Mary Paterson, Theron Schmidt, Folake Shoga and Hazel Tsoi Wiles.
In March 2008 the current phase of the project ceased and this website is now an archive of the writing that was created during that time. Plans are in progress to re-launch Writing From Live Art, and this website, in 2009 with new writers being placed with regional Live Art UK partner organisations. Advertisement for the recruitment of new Writing From Live art writers will be placed in UK press in 2009. For more details on Writing from Live Art and its future plans please contact info@liveartuk.org
All the Writing from Live Art writers continue to write and be actively engaged with Live Art and performance and may continue to work with Live Art UK as alumni of Writing From Live Art. Should you want to discuss working with one of the writers, you can contact them individually using the details in their biographies (click here).
Many thanks and we hope you have enjoyed working with, or reading the writing from Writing From Live Art over the last two years.
