BRISTOL / GLOBAL

From 8 – 12 February 2017, In Between Time presents its bravest festival yet. Unafraid to stand up for their beliefs as the world changes, 40 exceptional artists offer a version of Britain that is uncompromisingly contemporary.

Highlights of the festival include the UK premiere of The Record, IBT17 Live Art Symposium, Real Magic by Forced Entertainment and a PLAYING UP public Play In from the Live Art Development Agency.

“IBT has the courage to produce, the sensitivity to programme and the ability to communicate radical and risky contemporary performance works which respond comprehensively to the complex issues of our times.” - Thomas Frank, Artistic Director, Residence, Schauspielhaus Leipzig, Germany.

Since 2001, In Between Time’s festivals have showcased artists, but the IBT17 Bristol International Festival is a special year.  IBT has announced a new initiative, the IBT17 International Showcase, funded by Arts Council England: 22 exceptional British live artists will reach out globally, to offer a version of the UK that is rich with a diversity of voices. IBT is also inviting over 100 producers from six continents to attend the festival, creating touring opportunities and profiling the UK live arts scene.

Special thanks to the International Showcase selection panel: Aaron Wright, Afreena Islam, Antony Roberts, Cathy Butterworth, Daniel Brine, Jackie Wylie, Laura McDermott, Lois Keidan, Matt Fenton and Robert Pacitti.
