BUZZCUT

Hello from BUZZCUT!

Between 6th - 10th April 2016 we were chuffed to high hell to host our fifth annual festival of performance and live art. Our third time based in Govan community centre, The Pearce Institute, there was a programme of roughly 60 performances, half the programme from Scotland and the other half from the UK and international. We still operate on a pay-what-you-can system for everyone and this year we delivered a strand in our programme named ‘Close Shave - Live Art for young people’ which was programmed and hosted by teenagers.

We received roughly 480 applications for the festival, which was basically double the amount from the previous year. Lots of these applications came from artists from across the world, and because were so excited to try and show some of these artists, we approached the British Council to support the long haul flights for these artists. The inclusion of artists like Alejendra Herrrera and Gavin Krastin was a beautiful point of growth for us.

Furthermore there was really excellent food from Cafe 13, who are a mainstay of the local Govan community, and we’re looking forward to working with them more.

Roll on BUZZCUT 2017!
